FAQ's
Counselor Availability and Background
Q: How do I know which counselor is open currently?
A: You can check the portal link provided for the counselor found on the "Home" page below the map. You can also email the information email found at the bottom of the website's page or ask your question via the "Contact" page.
Q: I have a Christian faith background, do you offer Christian counseling?
A: While some of us do have a Christian background and hold a passion for it, faith-based counseling is not an expectation within session unless directly requested by the client. It is best to ask which counselor(s) have a related background if you find this to be significantly important to you for your expected counseling process.
Q: Do you take children?
A: The current accepted demographic is ages 10 and older. Our current counseling style does not accommodate for younger children at this time.
Setting Up an Appointment
Q: I submitted a contact card on the "Contact" page. How long will it be until someone reaches out to me?
A: A member of our team will reach you in 24-48 hours of the time the contact card was sent. There is a small potential for it being 72 hours if the contact card was sent late on a Friday or if a holiday is involved.
Q: I can't find any time slots open to schedule a first session. What do I do?
A: Go to the "Contact" page and submit your information for someone to get back to you. It is very possible we could accommodate for your schedule.
Q: If I've been waitlisted, how long will it take to get connected to a therapist?
A: You will be given a fairly accurate time frame to consider, but keep in mind that it all depends on our number of therapists and the status of current clients being seen. The current typical wait time is 2-4 weeks if placed on the wait list.
Q: I was told that every counselor is full, are you planning to hire more?
A: Yes, as demand increases we plan to hire more counselors! A wait list time frame may be cut short if a new counselor is hired and credentialed with insurance.
Q: How often should I come to see a therapist?
A: The typical frequency to come is weekly, every two weeks, or every four weeks depending on need and what is available. It is always recommended that weekly is where a new client starts and adjust from there. And as a small note, some have come more often than weekly. Frequency should always match potency!
Q: I have a teenager that I think should come, but is resistant to it. What should I do?
A: Let's give them a sense of control. We always say "try three and decide for yourself" to resistant clients brought by their parents. It is important that we do not "turn someone off" to counseling by being forced to come, however it is always good for them to have a contact to discuss things with at the very least.
